Oxford High School (OHS) will host the Jackson Catholic Forensic League's National Qualifying Tournament on Friday, February 20 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, February 21 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Oxford High School. Speech and debate teams from central and north Mississippi high schools will participate in the national qualifying tournament, which is the first of its kind hosted by Oxford High School's Speech and Debate team. During the national qualifying tournament, speech and debate students will compete in the following: Public Forum Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate, Duo Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Dramatic Performance, Oratorical Declamation, and Original Oratory. Approximately ten student teams will compete to represent Mississippi at the Grand National Catholic Forensic League Tournament May 20-25, 2015, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. School officials are seeking event volunteers to help during the tournament and community sponsors to support the OHS Speech and Debate team.
