National Drug and Alcohol Fact Week
January 23-29 is National Drug and Alcohol Fact Week. This national event is coordinated by the offices of NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) to shatter myths surrounding drugs. Organizations across the nation are taking part is this campaign by holding events in local communities. Communicare will be holding an event here in Oxford at the public library from 1pm-5pm. Kicking off at 1pm there will be a speaker sharing some national averages and facts provided by NIDA. This speaker will then introduce the members of a discussion panel composed of local community members with experience dealing with substance abuse. After sharing their knowledge and experiences, there will be an open Q&A session with the audience. Once the Q&A session has concluded, door prizes will be given out. These prizes include giftcards ($10 from Zaxbys, $25 from Newks, $25 from Walmart), an apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, bottle art from Clay Canvas, and tickets for Ole Miss Basketball! To wrap up the event for the day, there will be games and activities from 3pm until 5pm.
